The Sunday Social with Libby: featuring Sarah West

As a music fan and creator myself, I hold the utmost respect for people who leave behind the familiar to cultivate their passions. For Danish songwriter and pop artist, Sarah West, this notion is common throughout her journey from Denmark to Los Angeles, and then Nashville. The beginnings of her music pursuits began when she was 8, teaching herself how to play the piano and taking like to a variety of influences including Loretta Lynn, Michael W. Smith, and others.

The seed of her career as a songwriter began at her first publishing deal with Good Songs (Universal) Publishing, paving way for her travels across Europe and eventually America to collaborate with new producers and artists. She was discovered by world-renowned bass player, manager, and former American Idol judge, Randy Jackson. Together they worked with household names like Smokey Robinson, John Legend, Sammi Sanchez, and more.

Sarah’s catalog as a writer includes her first national number one in 2010 with pop singer Burhan G, the "BFF song" for LEGO, and others. In 2015 she co-wrote “Me 4 U,” for OMI (“Cheerleader”) whom invited her to sing the ballad with him as a duet. Sarah has collaborated with multiplatinum and award winning producers like Red One, Stereotypes, Cutfather, Jonas Jeberg, Neff-U, Devrim “DK” Karaoglu, Denarious “Motesart” Motes, and others.

While Sarah's writing career has heightened beyond what she could have ever dreamed, her personal sound and image is even more palpable to the listener with a heart for pure, unteachable talent. Whether she’s performing solo acoustic sets on stage or in the video feature above, her vocals are effortless and lyrics true to her ever-growing fanbase.

We sat down over happy hour to talk more about her leap of faith to call Nashville home, the transition from writer to writer/artist, and development through her upcoming project release! Settle in to your Sunday evening with her review on Sonic Tots and my reaction to a Danish food tradition! PLUS she'll be playing her upcoming release, “Flowers,” and it's a MOOD.
